The government is looking for innovative ideas from Indian MSMEs to convert agricultural waste into animal feed

Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy, emphasised the need of ensuring the food security of animals and urged entrepreneurs to develop innovative ways to transform agricultural waste into animal fodder. 

On Thursday, he said there was a need to put together a plan to secure the security of animal food.  It was an event for the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF). , which has a budget of Rs 15,000 crore.

The fund's objective is to encourage private businesses, MSME, Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs), and section 8 companies to make investments in the development of dairy and meat processing facilities, animal feed plants, and breed improvement.

He highlighted the sector's substantial contribution and stated that the ministry is actively striving to provide Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs) to farmers who raise animals for human consumption. 

The Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Sanjeev Kumar Balyan said that cost of animal feed has risen and the FCI godowns are full with foodgrains and asserted that there is a need to prepare a programme to maintain the same level of food security for animals.
