DFS Secretary Meeting with Officials of Punjab and Haryana & Chandigarh on speedy implementation of PM Vishwakarma Scheme

Vivek Joshi, the Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, has asked state officials to swiftly implement the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Scheme, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled last month.

He instructed the staff of the state government to make sure that beneficiaries were enrolled smoothly and that registration and verification of their eligibility for the PM Vishwakarma Scheme occurred quickly.

The Scheme was set up to offer traditional artists and craftspeople engaged in 18 designated trades with end-to-end holistic support. This support encompasses access to skill training, collateral-free credit, modern tools, market linkage assistance, and incentives for digital transactions.

The scheme’s motive is to “transform today's Vishwakarmas into entrepreneurs of tomorrow” quoted Joshi.

The 18 activities recognized under the Vishwakarma Scheme are boat builders, masons, stone sculptors, barbers, and carpenters. The government provides them a loan worth up to Rs 3 lakh.
